Supporting Academic and Athletic Balance for Student-Athletes through Time Management

TIME4SPORTS Pilot Seminar Successfully Delivered in Thessaloniki

On May 9th, 2026, the TIME4SPORTS project successfully delivered its first pilot training seminar at the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki, as part of the 29th International Conference of Physical Education and Sport.

The seminar was jointly organised by project partners Tero PC and EGVE, bringing together student-athletes, coaches, and sport professionals in a dynamic and interactive learning environment. In total, 23 participants attended the session, contributing to a highly engaging and collaborative experience.

Testing the TIME4SPORTS Training Framework

The pilot seminar focused on presenting the TIME4SPORTS Educational Training Framework, which aims to support student-athletes in effectively managing their time between academic and sporting commitments.

Participants were introduced to the five core areas of the framework:

  • Understanding the Time Management Challenges of Student-Athletes
  • Planning, Prioritisation, and Goal Setting
  • Managing Stress, Fatigue, and Workload Balance
  • Practical Tools and Digital Solutions
  • The Role of Coaches and Educators

The session combined practical examples, interactive exercises, and real-life scenarios, encouraging participants to actively engage with the material and reflect on their own experiences.

Valuable Feedback from Participants

An open discussion at the end of the seminar allowed participants to share their insights, experiences, and suggestions. This exchange highlighted the strong relevance of the training framework and its applicability to real-life challenges faced by student-athletes.

A particularly valuable suggestion was to strengthen the framework by including a dedicated focus on communication between coaches and parents, recognising its importance in supporting student-athletes’ time management. This feedback will be incorporated into the next version of the framework.

Participants also had the opportunity to provide additional feedback through an anonymous online survey, ensuring that all perspectives were captured. The results reflected a high level of satisfaction with the content, structure, and delivery of the training, while also identifying opportunities for further enhancement, including additional interactive elements and improvements in the visual presentation.

Moving Forward

The pilot seminar represents an important milestone for TIME4SPORTS, as it marks the transition from design to testing and refinement of the training framework. The insights collected during this session will directly inform the next phase of the project, ensuring that the final training programme is practical, user-oriented, and aligned with the real needs of student-athletes.

Further pilot sessions will now be implemented by all project partners across participating countries, continuing to strengthen and validate the TIME4SPORTS approach.
