Supporting Academic and Athletic Balance for Student-Athletes through Time Management

Co-Creation Workshop Brings Together Student-Athletes and Coaches

On March 26th, 2026, the TIME4SPORTS consortium successfully organised its online Co-Creation Workshop, marking a key milestone in the development of the project’s training framework.

The workshop brought together project partners, along with student-athletes and coaches from all participating organisations, creating a collaborative environment where real experiences and perspectives could directly inform the next phase of the project.

A Participatory Approach to Training Development

The main objective of the workshop was to validate and refine the proposed structure of the TIME4SPORTS training framework, which has been developed based on the findings of the Initial Partner Survey and the Needs Analysis.

During the session, participants were introduced to:

  • The key findings of the Needs Analysis, highlighting the main time management challenges faced by student-athletes
  • The common patterns identified across partner countries, including difficulties in balancing sport and education, stress management, and the need for practical support tools
  • The proposed structure of the TIME4SPORTS training programme, consisting of six core modules addressing time management, planning, stress management, digital tools, and the role of coaches and educators

Valuable Feedback from End-Users

A central element of the workshop was the active involvement of student-athletes and coaches, who were invited to share their experiences, opinions, and suggestions.

Participants provided valuable feedback on:

  • The relevance and clarity of the proposed training modules
  • The real-life challenges they face in managing time between sport and education
  • The types of learning methods, tools, and activities they consider most effective
  • Potential improvements, additions, or adjustments to the training structure

This interactive exchange ensured that the training framework is not only theoretically sound, but also practical, user-oriented, and directly aligned with real needs.

Shaping the Next Phase of TIME4SPORTS

The insights gathered during the Co-Creation Workshop will play a crucial role in finalising the structure and content of the TIME4SPORTS training programme. In particular, the feedback will be used to:

  • Refine the training modules and learning objectives
  • Integrate real-life scenarios and case-based learning approaches across all sections
  • Ensure the training materials are accessible, engaging, and adaptable to different contexts

The workshop also reinforced the importance of co-creation and stakeholder engagement as core principles of the project, ensuring that the final outputs are developed with the target groups, rather than for them.

Moving Forward

Following the successful completion of the Co-Creation Workshop, the TIME4SPORTS project now moves into the training development phase, where educational materials and tools will be created and later tested through pilot activities.

The consortium would like to thank all participants for their valuable contributions and engagement, which are essential in shaping a training programme that truly supports student-athletes in achieving a better balance between sport, education, and everyday life.
