Supporting Academic and Athletic Balance for Student-Athletes through Time Management

Kick-off Meeting

On January 21st in Thessaloniki, Greece, the partners of the TIME4SPORTS project gathered for the official Kick-off Meeting, marking the start of an exciting collaboration under the Erasmus+ Sport programme funded by the European Union.

The meeting brought together representatives from all partner organisations to establish a shared understanding of the project’s vision, objectives, and implementation plan for the coming months. It provided an important opportunity for partners to align on responsibilities, review the project timeline, and discuss the first steps of implementation.

TIME4SPORTS aims to support student-athletes in balancing academic and sporting commitments by developing practical time management skills. Many young athletes across Europe face significant challenges in managing the demands of training, competitions, and education. Through the development of an innovative training framework and blended learning programme, the project seeks to equip student-athletes with the tools and strategies needed to successfully navigate both worlds.

During the Kick-off Meeting, partners discussed the project structure, upcoming activities, and the first phase of the project, which focuses on identifying the needs of student-athletes through an initial survey and needs analysis. These findings will help shape the development of the TIME4SPORTS training programme, ensuring that it responds directly to the real challenges faced by student-athletes.

The project will also involve co-creation workshops, pilot training activities, and the development of an online repository of time management tools and resources. Coaches and educators will also be engaged through dedicated training activities, enabling them to better support student-athletes in managing their dual careers.

The Kick-off Meeting marked the beginning of a collaborative journey that will run over the coming months, bringing together expertise from different organisations and countries with a common goal: empowering student-athletes to succeed both in sport and in education. The journey has officially begun, and the TIME4SPORTS consortium looks forward to developing practical solutions that promote balance, well-being, and long-term success for student-athletes across Europe.
