Supporting Academic and Athletic Balance for Student-Athletes through Time Management

Objectives

1

Design and develop a tailored time management training programme for student-athletes.

TIME4SPORTS will design and produce a comprehensive set of educational materials and structured training modules specifically adapted to the realities of student-athletes. The programme will follow a blended learning approach, combining interactive e-learning modules with practical workshops that allow participants to apply tools and techniques in real-life scenarios. The content will be grounded in scientifically validated time management methods and informed by a thorough needs analysis, including co-creation workshops with student-athletes and coaches. Pilot testing and validation phases will ensure that the training materials are practical, user-friendly, and adaptable to different cultural and educational contexts across partner countries.

2

Implement and evaluate the TIME4SPORTS training model

The project will deliver the blended learning programme to selected cohorts of student-athletes in each partner country, ensuring structured participation and measurable outcomes. A Train-the-Trainer seminar will be organised to build the capacity of coaches and educators, enabling them to effectively support and reinforce time management practices within their organisations. In parallel, an online time management repository portal will be developed to provide ongoing access to tools, guidance, and resources. Evaluation mechanisms, including feedback questionnaires and monitoring indicators, will be systematically applied to assess the quality, usability, and impact of the training programme, allowing for continuous refinement and improvement.

3

Promote wide dissemination and stakeholder engagement

TIME4SPORTS aims to maximise the visibility and uptake of its results by actively engaging student-athletes, coaches, educational institutions, sport organisations, and policy stakeholders. Dissemination will be carried out through social media, project events, workshops, meetings, and online platforms to ensure broad outreach at local, national, and European levels.

4

Strengthen the role of coaches and educators in supporting student-athletes

Recognising that student-athletes operate within structured educational and sporting environments, TIME4SPORTS seeks to actively involve coaches and educators as key facilitators of change. The project will provide them with specialised training, practical tools, and structured guidance to help them understand the time management challenges faced by student-athletes. By strengthening their capacity to mentor, advise, and monitor progress, the project aims to create a more supportive ecosystem where time management is reinforced consistently across training sessions, academic environments, and daily routines. This approach will contribute to long-term behavioural change and more sustainable dual career pathways.
